Volunteers are an integral part of the Guelph CHC team and make a difference in the community. Guelph CHC recognizes that volunteer involvement is essential in supporting the agency to achieve its mission.
Volunteering is about offering time, energy and skills and choosing to help others.

We are committed to providing access to community-based programs and creating opportunities for people to improve their health and well-being. Our volunteers play an important role in helping us to fulfill this commitment.
We have many different volunteer opportunities:
Board Member - The operations of the Guelph Community Health Centre are overseen by a volunteer Board of Directors drawn from the community. Current Board members come from a variety of backgrounds. Board members serve three years, and are responsible for overseeing the Centre's policies, direction and funding.
Board Committees - Guelph CHC's Board of Directors has a number of standing and ad hoc committees that are a great place for people who may be interested in joining our board to gain experience.
Children's Programs - Volunteers assist program staff and facilitator in programs for children birth to 6 years of age. Volunteers work in teams leading children through supervised play and learning suitable for their ages. Volunteers help with the set up and clean up of the room and play stations, circle time, crafts, snacks, toy washing, and birthday books. Clinic Administration Support - Volunteers support reception staff with administration duties, filing, photocopying and other duties.
Food Preparation- Volunteers participate in a number of activities at the centre; Cooking demonstrations, children's program and snack co-ordination. Assist with food preparation, set up and clean up.
Fundraising & Special Events- Volunteers participate by helping to plan, organize and assist at events. These events include fundraisers and promotion and information events at Guelph CHC or in the community. Volunteers can participate by manning booths, contributing new ideas and initiatives to assist in raising funds and public awareness for the Health Centre.
Garden Fresh Box - Volunteers are needed for loading, sorting and packing one day a month. Help is also needed with the following; site coordinators, research, administration, marketing, public relations, the newsletter, driving the delivery truck.
Helping Hands - This is a multicultural women's group that operates on a weekly basis. Volunteers assist with weekly activities, such as; crafts, cooking demonstrations, and social interaction. Volunteers are also needed to assist with childcare while program is running.
Newsletter - Volunteers can contribute by writing, gathering or editing articles for the Newsletter and Annual Report of the Guelph Community Health Centre.
Reception - Volunteers provide reception services by answering the telephone, receiving and greeting visitors and clients, responding to general inquires, assessing visitors' needs and directing them accordingly. This position also involves providing clerical support to the staff and general clerical duties. Volunteers provide evening reception Monday to Thursday, 5pm-8pm.
Special Projects - Volunteers with uncertain schedules have the opportunity to help out with projects related to individual skills and interest.
WE (Women Everywhere) Breastfeed - Volunteers who have breastfed at least one child for six months or longer offer support and encouragement by telephone or in person to new mothers who are breastfeeding. We are often in need of volunteers who have experience as teen mothers or who can offer support in other languages. Our WE Breastfeed volunteers begin by participating in a three-day breastfeeding course and also receive support through monthly meetings.
