Parent Support and Information

We are pleased to offer parents and caregivers access to support, information and resources as they raise their young children.

  • Child Development and Parenting Strategies - we can help answer questions you may have about your child's development or about parenting. If you would like to talk to someone, please call (519) 821-6638. Our parenting information sheets also offer information on child development and parenting.
  • Parent & Family Support Staff - we have several Family Development Facilitators who offer support for parents individually and/or in group settings. For more information, please call (519) 821-6638.
  • Early Literacy - we support and promote early literacy development for children from birth to six years by providing access to activities, resources and education. For more information call our early literacy specialist at (519) 821-6638.
  • Nutrition - we offer access to resources for healthy eating. You can learn more by visiting our Nutrition Services page or calling our community dietitians at (519) 821-6638.
  • 18-Month Well-Baby Visit - Our Ontario government funds a longer, more in-depth visit when your baby is 18 months. What it means for you and your child is that you can have a more detailed discussion about your child with your family physician or other health care provider. For more information click here to view the Minstry of Children and Youth Services information page. A Nipissing District Developmental ScreenTM (NDDS) will be filled out during this visit. If you would like to look at the checklist in advance, you will find it at www.ndds.ca. (Copies of the NDDS are also available at our Guelph CHC downtown and Stone Road Mall sites.)
  • Breastfeeding - our lactation consultant can offer support and address any questions or concerns about breastfeeding you may have. For more information please call our lactation consultant at (519) 821-6638 or visit our Breastfeeding Services page.
  • Quality Child Care Initiative (QCCI) - we provide consultation, training, support and resources for the licenced child care community. Opportunities are available for early childhood educators, program supervisors, licenced home child care providers, cooks and resource consultants. For more information, please call (519) 821-6638 or visit the QCCI website.

Please note that although some of our parent support programs may provide child care when needed, we are not a child care centre.
