Take Charge
The Take Charge program is a six-week workshop created to teach people the skills needed to manage the physical and emotional challenges of living with a chronic health condition. The workshop is presented by two trained facilitators and is meant to enhance the regular health care people are receiving.
The workshop helps people to manage:
- symptoms such as pain, fatigue, frustration and fear
- exercise and nutrition
- goal setting, problem solving and communicating needs
- medication and making informed treatment decisions
Classes are held once a week for 2 ½ hours and include 10 to 15 participants with different chronic health problems. People who are caring for people with chronic health conditions are also welcome to attend.
A suggested donation fee of $1 to $35 helps to pay for our costs and provide participants with a reference book and materials.
Our workshops are held downtown at 176 Wyndham Street North.
